This year, the APTA KY Annual Conference, Optimizing Movement While Balancing Life, will be held in Somerset, KY, September 13, 2025 at the Somerset Community College. Research Forum Posters, along with other sessions will be presented by therapists in research, special interest, case study, or theory reports. This opportunity is open to all PTs, PTAs and PT/PTA students with eligible presentations.

Present at the 2025 Kentucky Physical Therapy Conference – Abstracts Now Open!
Are you a leader, innovator, or rising voice in physical therapy? We invite you to submit an abstract to present at the 2025 Kentucky Physical Therapy Conference, where clinicians, educators, researchers, and students come together to learn, connect, and advance the profession.
This year’s event will feature two hands-on lab rooms and two classroom-style breakout rooms during each concurrent block, giving you the opportunity to share both practical skills and clinical knowledge with your peers.
Abstract Submission Deadline: Friday, July 11, 2025, at 5:00 PM ET
All abstracts must be evidence-based, clearly written, and include a full description of methods, results, and conclusions. Hands-on labs must outline learning objectives and techniques to be demonstrated.

APTA Kentucky is pleased to announce a call for student poster presentations for the 2025 Annual Conference, to be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Somerset Community College.
We invite PT and PTA students to showcase scholarly work, including research projects, case studies, clinical innovations, and quality improvement initiatives. Bios
Austin is a graduate of the University of the Cumberlands Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. He is a physical therapist at Drayer Physical Therapy in Richmond KY.
Jeremy is a student in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at the University of the Cumberlands. He earned a B.S. from the University of the Cumberlands.
Stephen is a licensed physical therapist with 32 years of experience in a variety of clinical settings with an emphasis on outpatient orthopedics as well as state and federal regulatory affairs, industry advocacy, and payor policy. For the last 18 years, he has worked in numerous roles within Upstream Rehabilitation where he currently serves as the Chief Compliance Officer. Stephen is a member of the Advisory Board for the DPT program at Western Kentucky University and serves as the chair of the APTA Kentucky Payment Policy Committee. He previously served as a member of the APTA Section on Health Policy LAMP Management Committee.
Vicki Landers, PT, DPT, MHA, ACC
Vicki Landers, PT, DPT MHA ACC is a physical therapist, leadership coach, educator, and speaker with over 30 years of experience in healthcare. Her career has spanned direct patient care, rehab leadership, home health strategy, and system-level project management. She now focuses on coaching healthcare professionals who are navigating leadership roles, burnout, or career transitions. Vicki is an ICF-certified coach and Energy Leadership™ Index Master Practitioner, blending her clinical background with a practical, reflective coaching style. She has taught a the graduate and undergraduate levels and speaks nationally on topics like perspective shifts, resilience, and how we show up as leaders. Vicki serves on the NKC Health Board of Trustees and is passionate about helping clinicians lead with intention—without losing the heart of why they started in healthcare.
Dr. Callie E. Latham graduated with her doctorate in physical therapy in 2016, completed her orthopedic residency in 2018, and became a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy in 2019. She then pursued further training in pelvic health physical therapy focusing on pre- and post-partum care. Presently, she is a full-time professor at Bellarmine University instructing in anatomy, orthopedic, and pelvic health tracts, and a clinician serving pelvic health and orthopedic patients. Her professional passions include advancing health equity by addressing social determinants of health in pelvic health physical therapy, actively engaging in community outreach, and contributing to the development of future leaders in the field through curriculum innovation and mentorship. She is an engaged member of the APTA’s Academy of Pelvic Health and is involved in research focused on optimizing DPT education to foster socially responsive and community-driven practitioners.
Tracey LeGrand, PT, MSPT, Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Women's Health Physical Therapy
Tracey LeGrand graduated with her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Kentucky in 1999 and later completed a Master of Arts in Counseling from Asbury Theological Seminary in 2010. Tracey developed a passion for treating pelvic floor disorders and pelvic pain conditions early on in her career in the year 2000 and worked in various facilities in Central and Western Kentucky, building successful pelvic health programs. Tracey began marketing and providing pelvic health services in Lexington, Kentucky in the year 2006 and spent many years building relationships with local health care providers and educating them about the important role physical therapy can play in helping women and men find the treatment needed to restore quality of life and function from pelvic health conditions that many find difficult to discuss. In the year 2012, circumstances led Tracey to launch her business, Cornerstone Pelvic Health and Wellness, PLLC. In July 2017, Tracey LeGrand was awarded the professional designation of board-certified clinical specialist in women's health physical therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Tracey is 1 of only 7 physical therapists who have obtained the distinction of board-certified clinical specialist in women's health in the state of Kentucky. In addition to clinical practice, Tracey is also an adjunct Professor at University of the Cumberlands teaching Pelvic Health to DPT students. She is a yearly guest Lecturer at Somerset Community College teaching the physical therapy assistant students about Women’s Health/Pelvic Health Issues and has been featured as lecturer/speaker at various conferences including KPTA conferences, Kentucky Pain society, Asbury Theological Seminary, and Bluegrass Orthopedics Symposium.
Dr. B.J. Lehecka, PT, DPT, PhD is a professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Wichita State University. At WSU, he primarily teaches content concerning the hip, spine, posture, gait, and other facets of musculoskeletal evaluation and treatment. Dr. Lehecka has published many peer-reviewed journal articles, authored and edited numerous book chapters, co-authored a textbook, and presents often at state, national, and international conferences. He earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Kansas State University, a doctorate in physical therapy from Wichita State University, and a PhD in orthopedic and sports science from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions.
Dr. Levay earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Georgetown College in 2012, a Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2017, and a PhD in Health Professions Education in 2022, both from Bellarmine University. She is a Board-Certified Women’s Health Clinical Specialist. Dr. Levay is a full-time faculty member at Bellarmine University, where she teaches a variety of courses related to musculoskeletal, research, and pelvic health content. Her research interests include pelvic health simulation, understanding barriers to addressing sexual health, and holistic care for individuals with connective tissue disorders. She currently works in a private practice outpatient clinic as well as a Senior Care Center, treating adult patients with pelvic floor diagnoses.
Dr. Pariser obtained a PhD in Exercise Science in 1989 and her entry-level PT degree in 1997. She has 25 years of experience as a faculty member in physical therapy. Her teaching responsibilities in DPT education have been in the areas of exercise physiology, health and wellness promotion, evidence-based practice/research, service learning, and wound care. She has taught in other areas aligned with her educational and clinical background, supporting the delivery of content in anatomy, kinesiology and biomechanics, and geriatrics. Her clinical practice experience, focused on prevention and management of diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, and diabetic and vascular wounds includes hospital-based outpatient settings and pro bono service in a federally qualified health center.
Dr. Shelley earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance from the University of Louisville in 2014 and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Bellarmine University in 2018. She is a Board-Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist. Dr. Shelley practices full time at NeuroRestorative Louisville, specializing in treatment of adults with diagnoses of stroke and traumatic brain injury.
Graham is a student in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at the University of the Cumberlands. He earned a B.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Kentucky in 2022.
