The Sports Medicine Symposium, provided by Norton Sports Health and KORT, is designed to provide physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers and other health care clinicians with the latest scientific and clinical information about sports medicine, including injury prevention, medical and surgical treatments, and rehabilitative therapies for athletes. This year’s focus will address the latest scientific and clinical information related to hot topics for the prevention of and care for common injuries in athletes. Clinicians will gain knowledge for providing patients with the most advanced evidence-based treatment options available.

Weston Jones, physical therapist at PRO Physical Therapy, will present “Minimally Invasive TKA: Is Recovery Faster?” A growing trend in the orthopedic world over the past several years has been minimally invasive total knee arthroplasty. The primary goal of this technique is to improve function and recovery duration. Is that the case in comparison to traditional surgical methods? Answering this question with evidence from current research is the primary goal of this presentation. However, we will also look at various implants used during the total knee procedure and identify if there is a significant difference between patient specific and “off the shelf” implants.
